High School Students from the Wimberley and Dripping Springs High Schools are very excited about meeting theirΒ new pups to be trained as service dogs,Β they’ll be training for the next year and a half or so.
Freedom Canines a Nonprofit organization is working with the students to train, raiseΒ and socialize hand-selected puppies in their first years of life to become various types of assistance dogs, including Diabetic Alert Dogs.
The students got their dogs’ “puppy in training”Β service dog vest capes to wear while working, andΒ also hadΒ a photo shoot with the puppies in their hero uniforms as memorable mark into their journey of becoming assistance dogs.
KXAN’s YoojinΒ Cho spoke toΒ a student who is participating in the programΒ and will be spending the next 16 to 18 months with his dog, Zing.
The students in the program are trained by the FCI instructors so that the pups are well prepared to fulfill their role.
